This has been a on going problem for awhile now and its pretty annoying.

Idle its rough and it is stumbling on accel. Both a missfire feeling.

I've replaced the plugs, coils and boots, and oil. I don't really know what else to check or where to go next.

I'm going to do what was suggested on a previous thread and clear the codes and see what comes up again, but its giving me a missfire in cylinder 1 and 4.
 
I would say try cleaning the mass air sensor and run some sea-foam through the intake, not gas. As well as running a full bottle of seafoam in the gas tank. Could be clogged egr or clogged injectors or even just injectors going bad. How old are the front oxygen sensors as-well? I had a simlar sounding problem with my 93 crown-vic it was solved by running seafoam (bout 5-6 ounces) as directed on the bottle. Through the intake or vac line feeding all 8 cyls then either stall it out or turn it off. Let sit for 10 mins or so and fire it up. I normally also pop the battery's neg connector as well to reset the idle, though the car will relearn on is own after a while if necessary. Also if its never been done I would spray the intake with air-intake cleaner (NOT carb cleaner) which eats the coating on the throttle body and wipe it inside. Then spray again to wash off the carbon, gunk residue after turning the car back on.
 
Their was a guy in the LS forums that had a similar problem. He reflashed the computer.
 
The fuel injectors usually don't go bad that often on these cars. Check fuel pressure your stock fuel pump maybe getting weak.
 
I'm gonna run some system cleaners through this car. One thing that just hit me was this car was sitting for awhile so probably would be the best idea to run some system cleaners through it. Multiple people said the manifold sensors might be bad as well.
 
Do one thing at a time. Unhook battery to reset your computor. Remeber you need to drive it a bit for the coputor to relearn. If you are getting alot of stubbing and rough idle still, the geat down to your parts store and get the codes read again. Pick up a can of Sea Foam, and a bottle of Fuel injector cleaner. You may need them. Stop and pop in the injector cleaner along with some 93 Octane gas. Let us know what happens.
 
Try to get the Redline SL1 fuel system cleaner if you can find it, its really good stuff.
 
I had the same problem on my '95 M8 up untill yesterday. My buddy and I tore into it and replaced the plugs. After that we test fired it and blew a wire through the casing on my #6 wire. Replace the wires and now it runs like new.

Found out that I had almost 160k on factory wires and plugs. Only a little bit of oil on #1 and #3 plugs considering that they are almost 13 years old with almost 160k on them. Shoulda seen my grin when I fired it up and realized that little bit of rumbling I felt when I first got it was gone, and wasn't just because it was a V8...

Hauls some serious ass now. I can't wait to take it to the track next month and get it timed. My boss wants to put his T-bird against me. I think I can take him.

Change the fuel filter first before you put any kind of cleaner in it. I changed the one in my old '95 when I first got it, and it was like a new car.:eek:
 
I finally got mine running correct... it turned out it just needed to be driven... it was kinda scarey in a way too... I went and cleared the codes and decided to take it for a drive to see what new ones came up... drove about 10 miles... it was idling rough... barely goin at all... and it would shake and pull forward a lot... well no codes came up... went inside to grab a bite to eat... when I came out the car ran perfect... has been for about a week... funny thing is a code did pop up yesterday... cause my gas cap wasn't tight :D... I was like NOT AGAIN!... I'm happy it's goin great again though!... it's a sad sad world when a Lincoln dies at an intersection!!
 
regardless of the year Change your fuel pump.. remember the youngest of the bunch a 1998 is almost 10 years old. electric motors are pretty worn out after 10 years ;)

It may seem a little steep but when the pump goes out on the road you are going to wish you did! especially in the middle of traffic. lol
