i have a 2002 LS 78,000 miles.

recently i filled it up and added fuel injection cleaner to a full tank.

the car is studdering (almost like a miss) on acceleration. no codes or engine light. idle is fine.

could this be the cleaner? or does it sound like a different problem?

thanks for the help!!!

why isnt there a sticky for this issue?? comes up way too often
ANYWAYS... you need to get new valve cover gaskets and coils for ALL cylinders, also might as well change ur spark plugs while in there..

Here's my question...does the miss stay at driving speeds and level out or stay continuously? The reason I ask is that I am having an issue(see my post yesterday for "Idle issue/Stalling....I think". I'm taking Quik's advice and bought a new Idle Air Control Valve today off of RockAuto.com. Not sure that my issue applies to yours but had to ask. Jumpman may very well be dead on.

If your coils have never been changed then its about time. Sounds like they're starting to go out.

yeah coils.. 4 different coils at 3 different time went out for me btw 73-75K. (2002 LS)

seems like it doesnt happen until it warms up.

drove all day today.. no problems.. seems intermitten.

shouldnt i get error codes if the coils arent firing right?

Zero you are describing my post exactly. Never a problem cold. Only once it warms up. And my issue just showed up out of the blue. I'll have my IAC in Tuesday and will keep you posted if it clears up the issue. Quik has nailed my issues each time accurately so I'm starting with the $55 part(rockauto.com) rather than digging into the coils at this point. I still can't rule out the MAF either. I've replaced my valve cover gaskets so an oil leak on the coils is out of my equation at this point....or at least for now. Only 20,000 miles on these valve cover gaskets.

Please note that oil leaking on a coil is not required for it to fail. The two that have failed on me never had oil or water on them.

I understand that...but if you look at jumpman's post it can be interpreted that the dreaded oil leak(i.e. valve cover gasket replacement) is the culprit. Technically, low transmission fluid levels can make this car stall/have idle issues(if one wanted to really dig into it). There is an NTHSA board posting regarding it. I only added the 2nd post because what he is describing is spot on with a post I put up 3 days ago. Especially the cold vs. warm portion.

Replace all and if you are mechanically inclined change them all yourself!! Save the money and get them on ebay. My lincoln just turned 200,000!! Still rollin! Might be cat problem too...had those replace, got em on ebay too!
