Ok, I'm not sure how great this is gonna post but I'll give it a shot. The following is a side by side comparison of the current CTS and the new STS. The data is taken directly from the Cadillac website. After seeing this, tell me why there is such a HUGE difference in pricing between the two, and how Cadillac hopes to differentiate the two. Just remember that all interior dimensions (where you'll be) are at most only 2" different. Since I'm not sure how this will post, just remember that the first dimension is the CTS, followed by the STS.

Step 1.

Exterior Dimensions
CTS STS
Wheelbase (in.) 113.4 116.4
Length (in.) 190.1 196.3
Height (in.) 56.7 57.6
Width (in.) 70.6 72.6
Track (front) 60.3 61.8
Track (rear) 60.0 62.3
Curb Weight (Auto Trans) (lbs.) 3568 3960

Interior Dimensions

Seating (std) 5 5
Seating (max) 5 5
Head Room (front) (in.) 38.9 38.7
Head Room (rear) (in.) 36.9 37.9
Hiproom (front) (in.) 53.4 54.6
Hiproom (rear) (in.) 53.8 55.6
Leg Room (front) (in.) 42.4 42.6
Leg Room (rear) (in.) 36.2 38.3
Shoulder Room (front) (in.) 56.6 58.6
Shoulder Room (rear) (in.) 56.2 57.4
Cargo Volume (mfr.) (cu. ft.) 12.5 13.8

Step 2.

I went to the old Carpoint website (now MSN Autos I think) and clicked off every available option on both cars (except the "V" option on the CTS since we have yet to have a "V" option on the STS) and this is what I found:

CTS

Base Price: $31,850
Loaded: $43,525

STS

Base Price: $49,645
Loaded: $71,600

All I can say is... :eek2:

isnt the xlr around 80k I mean - why buy the STS when for a few k more you get an xlr --

28k difference betweeen the two -- thats a whole nother car!

It look like you get about 28 inches over all and and 392 lbs. I didn't take the time to do the exact math.

All that for $17,795 and we all agree'd the intirior stylinig was better. That counts.

:)

Better stay south of the border for that New Loaded STS - Thats $96,600 Can Dollars
