When I first drove this car at the dealer, it had a growl to it. Anytime driving 30+, especially in 3rd gear, it just had this constant growl. I really liked this aspect of it.
I can't pinpoint when exactly it went away, but it did. Now my car is quiet when I'm driving it, no growl. I've talked to people, none of us have any idea what could have made this sound, and what made it go away. Do you guys have any clue?

I have two theories.

1) It was something the dealer did to cover up some engine ping. I think I probably have a bad injector, or possibly coils. This is what I think it probably is, but what could be done to the car to make it growl like it did?

2) Could a custom tune provide a sound like this? (the SCT 2 computer thing) I did un-plug my battery a couple weeks after getting the car, I don't know if that resets any custom tunes or anything, but I thought it might.

Thanks in advance.

CAI will give the LS a prominent growl.

Disconnecting the battery will not reset a tune, you have to load a tune or replace a tune with another.

Thanks for letting me know the battery disconnect won't reset the tune.

I have the CAI, the K&N one that's listed on LSKoncepts.com

That's a lot more of a hiss than the growl that was constantly going on. It does growl/roar when I step on the gas for sure, but this growl I was getting before was a much more constant thing, and not a higher-rpm only thing.

I did clean my CAI filter about a month after getting the car, and it needed it bad. Thanks for the reply.
