So I have a strange clank or knock coming from the back driver wheel area. When I start to slow down or brake it will knock knock knock.. Knock... Knock..... Knock and so on it slows as the car does. If I press the brakes hard it goes away. I am going to tear into it tonight but not sure what it could be. The caliper seems tight and doesn't shake at all...

Started out of no where

I just did the brakes in the back last fall so I doubt the pad is gone. Can't be 100% sure yet though

Loose lug nuts ?

Just teasing Anton, best of luck with the repair, hopefully nothing too serious.

----EDIT: Actually, be sure to check and see if something is banging the 5 spokes on the inside of the wheel.

Honestly I thought lugs at first but all seems tight. I will check the pads tonight to see if I have some serious pad chatter going on and need a shim. I don't see that one could fall out since the pads have been on there for 6-8 months with no noise but never know.

How's the shield behind the rotor look? That can become lose and hit the back of the rotor causing a similar sound to what you're describing.

Possible pad failure? A (small) chunk of pad may be floating around........ Or the friction material may have separated from the backing plate.

Okay found the problem the one slider was frozen up like it was welded In after removal and new one in its just a quite as new.

Was a pain had to torch it out and the front had the same thing and that one broke off inside. After about an hour of drilling and chiseling it came out and it's all fixed up now too
