My damn tire shop tightened my lugs to like 120 ft/lbs. So I'v been taking em off to put my Koblenz's back on and one of the lugs stripped. The lug head itself is stripped bad. Is there anything I can do to get this off? Is there a tool I can buy to get it off. These stock lugs are a POS. This isnt the first time I have had them strip on me.

buy the new ones. i bought the new ones and havent had a problem. i have taken my wheels of numerous times.

Hammer on the socket.... or go to ur local tire shop and they do this kinda stuff all the time

right I think it's normally a 3/4. hammer on a metric (19MM IIRC but maybe not) and you'll get it off:)

yeh discount tire will bust it off. you can buy the new lug nuts from lincoln or the sebring lug nuts work too. do a search to find the part #. plus the sebring lugs are cheaper. but yeh lincoln redesigned the ls lug nut.

lugs

I used an ice pick to punch a hole through the outside cap peeled back the outside to expose the nut and then took it off with ease. It's a bitch and I had to do it to 15 of my lugs which pissed me off. Look at my previous posts, get the new lugs from jnztuning.com $1.90 each!!!!!

The stock lug nuts on my LS are 19mm.

It sounds like the lug itself is stripped, so it doesn't matter what you get on the lug nut--it'll just spin in place. Take it back to the shop that did the work and make them get it off; they screwed it up, so they need to fix it.

FWIW, the LS's lug nuts should be torqued to 100 ft-lbs. One LLSOC member discovered that a tire shop had "torqued" his to over 250 ft-lbs. Good thing he didn't have to change those on the side of the road.

Those lug nuts are the only thing I hate about my LS. I got new tires put on the stock 16" wheels and they had to replace 8 of the lug nuts. Some guy from autozone drove 3hours away to get them on a Saturday...and they wanted like $4-8/each lug nut. I was told you can use these sockets (in picture below) to strip the shell off the nut, then hammer a 3/4 or something sock on the nut and crank'er loose.Heres a link to the sockets I'm talking about http://www.northerntool.com/webapp/...ageView?storeId=6970&langId=-1&rfno=200263374 . good luck man.

^ Thats exactly what I used. I had to go to Sears this morning tho to get a 1/2" reducer to 3/8" cuz my torque wrench is 1/2" drive and the sockets were 3/8".
After that it came right off. Yea I replaced all my lugs nuts friday. $5 each. Yea I know outrageous. I got my new wheels back on now. So what should I torque the lugs to? I have them at 80# now.

100ft/lbs, remember if you really over tighten them you can warp your rotors. Also, I always recheck the torque a few days later.
