I have an 02 LS I’m going to upgrade the stereo system in. I have some components already like two 8” Rockford Fosgate P1S48 subs and a TMA T250.1 amp. I’m 56 y/o and I don’t really care for BIG pounding Bass, just so that they sound good for my style of music. I also have four Memphis 6.5” 15-PR63V2 for the doors with a Power Acoustik OVN4-840 to drive those. These components were in my explorer but I wrecked that so I plan on using them for this project.
Here’s my dilemma, I want to mount the subs in the rear deck in the factory location and mount a custom box under that to close them up. I don’t know if I should build one box for both subs or build two boxes, then there’s the question of ported box or sealed box. I’m working with an area of about 42 x9x5. I know trunk boxes are easy to get but I don’t want to loose the ability to drop the rear seats to put long items in the trunk.
I have only had these subs in a ported box, which won’t work in the LS, so I don’t know how they would be in a sealed box so I’m hoping someone smarter than me can help me do this right the first time.

Go sealed and make a single boxes, and have them fire up in the stock 6x9 holes and make sure it's tight on the baffle with some foam around the edge that mounts to the baffle to ease rattle.

Thanks for your reply Blueberry, so the baffle you're referring to is the mounting flange?

Also, when I figure the box size for 2 subs, (.65 cubic ft. for ported & .30 for sealed), is that doubled or just 0.30 total for both in a single box?

if you double the amount of drivers, you need to double the amount of volume...

what does it say for a single driver?

For my subs it says 0.65 for ported and 0.2-0.3 for sealed so using the box wizard on the rockfordfosgate website I can easily make a box in the 0.73 range that will fit in that area. It will be tricky and entail a lot of pattern work first before I cut any wood and I won't really be able to use the stock speaker location, I'll have to mount them a little closer towards the middle of the deck. 1LoadLS, how do you feel about using fiberglass for box material?

Thanks for your help guys, I know this isn't a monster setup like most on here but I don't need that. I listen to jazz, blues (Bonamossa), classic rock, and some country, and on occasion ICP.

Bonomassa Rules!!!

Yeah, we seen him a couple years back in Huntsville. We meet him after the show, this is my wife Lucie.

Good Stuff. He really is the best you've "never" heard of. I heard him a couple of years ago, and I was hooked! I like stevie ray, albert king, etc. But JB blew me away. Talented man. Congrats on meeting him. seems like he would be One Kool Kat!!
and I mean this as a compliment. (pretty wife)..
I looked at the pic, and was like, hey!! that's Joe Bonamassa!!!

Yeah, he is a really nice guy. He does concerts all over the world but doesn't play on local radio stations, it's crazy.

I know, last year or the year before, I forget, he came here to Tallahassee, and I had to go out of town that weekend, for business. I hated I missed it. and even finding his CD's are tough. Mail order everything. I follow him on youtube, so I get alerts. but yeah awesome musician. I didn't mean to hijack your thread, I just like JB.
