Alright, now to my question. I just bought a used JVC KD-AVX2 CD/DVD player.
My lincoln has the audiophile 6 disk system, and i was wondering what i need to install this stereo, as well as some steps on how to go about it.

Thanks,

Tyler

you will need a dash kit and a wire harness, make sure the wire harness is the audiophile harness, and a 1450 ohm resistor.

step 1: pop out the vents above the radio (unplug if V8)

step 2: pop up the trim around the shifter

step 3: remove two philips screws and two 7mm bolts from ash tray and remove

step 4: remove four 8mm bolts above radio (2) and below climate control (2) unplug radio and climate control

step 5: assemble dash kit and you will probaly have to paint it to match the rest of the silver, since i have only seen black kits

step 6: unscrew climate control and attach to dash kit

step 7: wire the harness up to the radio harness and place the resistor in line with the remote wire (blue or blue with white stripe) from the radio to the factory sub plug(otherwise you will get a POP from your subs when they turn on). if your radio has an illunination wire Do Not Connect it to any of the orange wires in the harness, you will need to tap into the wire that goes to the light for the ash tray

step 8: plug every thing back in and reverse the disambly instructions

is your stereo a single din or a double din?

also, i dont think thats the right harness.

It's single Din. And if somebody could post a link to the right harness (audiophile) i would really appreciate it.

that is the right harness. the audiophile portion of the harness is the sub plug with the rca's. step one- pop the vents out, place a panel remover tool between the vent trim(silver plastic) and the dash, i would start at the bottom there are two clips(one on each side at the bottom) that will release straigh toward the back of the car.

So i have everything installed. Thanks for all the help.

But... i ran into one problem. My subs aren't working...

The Audiophile part of the harness has the RCA plugs and then two grayish-blue wires with white stripes, what do these hook up to? There weren't any matching wires...

Thanks,

Tyler

the blue/white wires are the amp turn on wires you need to connect the to the amp turn on wire from the head unit, if you connect them straight together you will probally get a POP when it turns on if this is the case just put a 1450 ohm resistor in line with the wire and the turn on pop will go away

sorry and plug the rca ends into the sub out. you will need to use a sub out because the sub amp doesn't have a crossover. if you head unit doesn't have sub outs you will need to go radio shack or somewhere like that to get a set of PASSIVE CROSSOVERS (looks like little 1 inch rca extension) and you can get them for different freq try to get around 100hz, much higher or lower will not sound as good

Ok, i got it all installed, i wasn't seeing the blue wire on the H/U for some reason.

And this thing is awesome, tons of features, makes the stock speakers sound even better. And watching DVD's rocks too.

Once again thanks for all the help.

Should of took pics of the install, it could have helped our community quite a bit.

Thats a great idea, i completely forgot about it.

However there's still a chance of it happening, i had no desire to run to the store to buy a resistor after fighting with this thing for a few hours. So if i get sick of the pop at start-up i will take pics of the tear-down/re-assembly for sure.

well if you dont want to take it all apart you can always add the resistor in the trunk at the wire harness for the subs. open the trunk remove the cover under the deck and look next to the left trunk hinge, should be a grey plug with wires that have fuzzy black electrical tape. if you want to do that you just need to find which wire turns on and off 12v with the key.if you dont have a meter to test which wire it is, let me know and i can test it out while i am at the shop. just another option
