stereo head units '95

I replaced my HU with an Alpine unit...sucks. System was good to go before HU failed. I want to go back to stock system, my amp and speakers are good plus have a spare amp. Question: are there any other Ford/Linc HU that will work? Especially would like a single CD unit. Can I add a trunk cd player to my stock harness without modifying wiring,is it a plug and play deal? Will gen 2 HU work? Any body have one of these options for sale? Thanks TMM

Replaced my stock stereo years ago, nothing wrong with it just wanted a better after market one. Already got rid of the amp but still have the head unit. Not sure if the 95's and 94's are the same tho. It's been sitting in a drawer for 10 years or so.

You could also just buy a head unit that doesn't suck.

94 were single din, 95 are double din so it's not gonna work.

What sucks is that the store that installed the alpine head either didn't use the correct adapter or didn't know how to wire it in right. After going bak the 3rd time for another attempt to get it correct, and the sound quality still sucked, I gave up and figured that the alpine was not going to work with the stock premium audio system. Will a '97-8 head unit fit onto my '95 harness? If so what about wiring an MP3 into the CD to the trunk player line, and have just MP3, no CD?
