Anyone know where to get one?

The fat bastard at Autozone had no clue then when I told him I could use the dif tool he gave me the wrong one swearing it would work.
 
I told him I would rather use the one in the tech articles on LSK but he didnt want to listen. Now the threads on they tool are tore up so f*ck Auto Zone.

I can go to Napa but they dont rent tools out and they are just as bad half the time.
 
you just need a two-fingered hub puller - looks like this only with two fingers (not three)

Thats the one he gave me. The things spindle or what have you has to tight of a thread and the threads on the steering wheel hub or what ever stripped it:D


They have the on shown in the pics on the Tech Articles ( I suppose its the one you speak of ) but they want 45$ for it and they don have it available for loaner.


EDIT: Actually the one he gave me is similar but has a fourth spot for a arm so it can be taken down and then used as a two finger.
 
That tool will work. But dont let the threads go in... use a big nut or something else to protect the threads.. just need a little bit of pressure and the whole thing will pop out
 
I use a 10mm socket - it fits over the end og the steering hub (protecting the threads) and yet offers the puller a hole to center in.

but I think he meant that the actual tool stripped.
 
Yeah, the big screw stripped as it went down into the threads of the hub. Plus no matter what I did I couldn't get the arms to get a good hold. I assume they get put in place and then the pressure keeps them in the spot they should be in?


Am I supposed to tighten the nuts on the arms after fitting them in place to make sure they stay in place?
 
once you have removed the 50 torx bolt

the lip on the end of the arms should tuck under the edge of the steering wheel frame at the 12 and 6 o'clock positions on either side of where the bolt was.

the bolts holding the arms together should be 'finger tight'. once you thread down the center of the puller (to take up the slack) it should only take a few turns until the steering whell 'pops' off
 
Yeah thats the problem. I have the arms finger tight but they dont lose slack.

I'll try that socket trick out next.

Maybe the center of the puller is to long?
