Alright, I wnt to buy things for my Avic D3 early then install it in the Spring, Now i cant live without the steering wheel controls so it is possible to connect it to the avic right? Do i need to buy an adaptor, and if so, where can i get such a thing?

Link would be great!

Thanks again.

Try ebay.

I have one for my Alpine. Just waiting for warmer weather to install it.

PAC SWI-JACK is what I have for the Alpine, not sure if it's the same one for the Pioneer

I bought my PAC SWI-PS for my AVIC D2 from Bill at Team Ford Parts for $50 shipped. I haven't finished installation for it yet, but in my quick trial setup, I found it very easy to install. Just three wires on the one end and plugs directly into the back of the D2.

500? what else are you doing besides the Avic install and steering wheel pac controller?

what's the shop actually charging you? i got an estimate on installation of my kenwood. 35 bucks an hour, they said shouldn't take more than that (just the install of the head unit). but i supppose with the pioneer, you have to configure the gps, and the bypass is a little different process.

well i aint as talented as some of you, so i cant do it myself.

get another quote xarruda89x, I didnt mean you werent talented, just that this shop seems like they are raping you. With the Avic, the Bezel and a wiring harness the install should be fairly quick. Are you putting amps in? If so that may drive the install up to $500 with all the additional wiring.

But I assume throwing around a dollar amount on what its costing you to install it makes up for it, right?

Alright, the project isn't going to cost me that price, i talked to my buddy and his friend is the manager in charge of Circuit City install, and hes going to do it for me for about $100, But I'll give him 150 or so.

Thanks for all the help guys.

Just make sure he does the bypass for you... sometimes you have to give the installer a little more to do that.

you may want to let him know that they bypass procedure is listed on avic411.com. The bypass for the avic is slightly different from other units.
