steering column

Does anyone out there know if the parts from a 2000 ls steering column will work in a mk viii ? Mostly wondering about the potentiometer, looks the same. Thanx Bruce

At first I thought this was silly question, but after looking at the parts diagrams I'm not so sure. The whole column looks similar. Unfortunately Ford doesn't sell the potentiometer for the LS separately, but it would be interesting to find a salvaged one and see if they're compatible.

I've thought about this as well, but haven't yet had the chance to check it out.

Potentiometer is the same ! Whole column will work , but steering wheel will have to be recentered !

There is about ten 2000 LS's in the local junkyard here
