Steering column replacement

My steering wheel has almost 2inches of play in it. Tie rods all new. No movement on wheels. So been told steering column. U joints. Looked underneath and there is a lil play in it. My question is, does anyone have a how to on replacement of steering column? 2000 LS

So, the part with the u-joints is not part of the steering column. That's a separate part, the intermediate shaft.

The column itself it not difficult to remove either, but that's not where your play is.

The rack itself is more likely to be the source of the play.
