Steering column question...

I'm new to working on newer cars (last "fun" car was a chopped and channeled 51 merc).
I just bought a newer steering column. The car was in an accident and set off the bag. My plan is to swap out the steering wheel and trim (different color). Is this column safe to use since the bag deployed?.

I have a 97' LSC

The only thing I'd look at would be while you have it out I'd take it apart to make sure all the little bearings are there and while it's apart clean and grease the tracks the bearings go in. The rest of the car and steering system I'd designed to take the force of the crash so the air bag is not detonated inches from your face.

Are there any crush parts I need to look at since the airbag deploy'd?.
