So my parents who also own two different Ford vehicles sent me an article about how theives this time of year are sitting in parking lots with some sort of device and stealing the signal from remote fobs when people walk away and lock their cars, the article recomended manually locking the door from the inside when leaving the car. Has anyone else heard about this or is this some sort of false story? I thought the cars remote uses a random changing code much the same way that the garage door opener does. Anyone know how the remote works?

BS, if a thief had that kind of knowledge and that kind of tech that easily accessible why would they resort to steeling X-Mass presents?

I think it sparked from that BS trick in "Gone In 60 Seconds".

Your common thief this time of the year is a smash and grab.

Funny, I have been watching the Trailer Park Boys X-Mass special a lot the last few days, hilarious! Sorry, they just do some dumb things like steal presents from cars at the mall to sell to last minute shoppers in the park and it was the first thing that popped into my head.:D

your probably right NYC... but what better person to rob other then a lincoln owner... we do big things LOL!

Lincoln Drivers are either old or drug dealers.... thats the way the world has made it.... oh yea or a mafia member....

That technology has been around for years. That is why "Code Hopping" was developed by the security manufacturers and garage door opener companies. You do not have a thing to worry about.
