What is it that you think the charging system status check does?
It says okay if the charging system warning light is not on. That's it. You can just look at the light yourself. The warning light only warns if the limited monitoring of the alternator shows a serious problem. It doesn't tell you anything about the battery itself, and it does not catch all kinds of alternator failure. It also doesn't catch any parasitic drains.
Do you have a volt meter?
