My 2002 Eldorado will only start when it wants to. Sometimes I attempt to turn key anywhere between three and twenty times before it will crank.

I understand this is a problem with the resistor on the key and can be bypassed by adding an equivalent resistor in the circuit.

Found a lot of info on this on the internet and have one question. One of the internet comments said that by having this resistor permanently in the circuit, it could possibly burn out the computer.

Also how do you get the panel under the steering column off? It appears to be a snap-on, but it moves somewhat, but won't release completely.

Any help would be appreciated as my wife is ready to run the car over a bank --- if she can get it started!!
