My 97' Mark now has problems starting on cold mornings. I turn the key and it starts but then dies. I have to start it and hold the gas for a bit before it will idle without dieing. I live in California so it's not that cold. My car has 90k on it now. I did a fuel sys cleaning (Lucas fuel sys cleaner). Once it's warm it starts with no problems and idles around 1k rpm. Any advice?

Thanks...

Idle air control valve, about 30-40 bucks at a parts joint iirc.

Somebody mentioned that you can clean gen2 iac's with positive results. If not it'll take maybe 5 minutes to change as it right on top of the manifold.. It's the gen1's that take a while.

Thank you!!!
(You beat me to it...just looked up IAC).

Replaced the IAC...starts right up, and even seems to run beter.
Thanks every onefor the advice!!!!
