starter removal

Hi Guys,

Quick question for those of you who have replaced a starter on the LS. How do I go about removing the top bolt on the starter. I can't even see the darn thing. I have all the wires off the terminals and bottom bolt out of the starter but I have been laying under the car for 30+ mintues trying the find a way to that top bolt. I have a 2001 LS V8.

I used a standard 3/8" rachet with a deep 13mm socket. You can't see the nut, it'll require you to feel around for it. Once loose, you can swith to a 1/4" rachet with your 13mm socket for faster removal.

A stubby 13 mm wrench worked good for me. You cant see it when you are on your back , but you can feel it.
