well i decided not to do the jmod at this time. my budget is to small. Other than the harness repin which i have the correct pin out. is there anything else i need off the 94 trans i also have a new mlps for a 94. and input would be welcomed so far i have the exhaust fuel cell and drive shaft out.

I'd use the TCC solenoid from the 94 trans. I've heard the impedance of the coil is different. The wiring is a bit different in the 98 but it's easily modified from what I've read.

I'm putting a 97 trans in my 94. I'll be using the 94 TCC. The wiring to it is the same in 97.

thanks for the advice I sent a msg to Driller and what he had told me was if i use the new solenoid (98). i have to repin the harness. if i use the old solenoid then i don't have to repin it which is what he did. now my question is the mlps. The plugs between the two years are different. any input other than cutting the plug off or can i use the 94 harness

i am a little nervous about useing the tcc solinoid from the 94 due to the issues it was having i had a solid first gears and all the other gears would slip it would move the car but only under very light throttle. when the tranny went it gave a hard clunk and the would not shift our of first until around 4500rpm onlight throttle. the it started to shift a little better but still felt like it was never locked into each gear 2,3,4. like a i said first gear was fine. if someone has aclue to what the issue might be i would feel better about useing the part from the 94

I'm putting a 96 trans in a 93 and I am using a new 93 TCC. The OHMs are different. The 93 TCC is 1-3 OHMs and the 96 is 10-16 OHMs. I would check the resistance on both TCCs. If you fry it you be swapping again. All the write ups I have seen for the gen2 to gen1 swap say use TCC specific your year of car. Also 94 is odb1 and 98 is odb2, electronics different.

As for MLPS, no clue. I thought re-pin took care of that.

I have a 98 trans as a spare, so I am very interested in your swap. Please post any info you find out.

use the TCC soleniod that matches your PCM....pretty damned simple.

If you're concerned about the "old" solenoid then go buy a new one.

I wouldn't Jmod that trans until you get it in the car and get the damned thing running.

HOW many times have I said to you... "ONLY CHANGE ONE THING AT A TIME"?

damn dood, listen much?

supposedly the newer solenoids are "backwards" compatible, but I could never confirm this.

SO I used the soleniod that I felt would understand the language that the PCM was throwing to it.

this may or may not be right, but how I understood it was
the old style solenoid was "analog" it only listen for a "signal".

The new ones were digital and had pulse width modulation"..
So the digital signal when thrown AT the analog solenoid did just what it was supposed to do.
(whew)

keep in mind that when I did this it was a long time ago..and I really tried to mentally block out the very bad experience I had with this...and the subsequent 225 mile ride in SECOND GEAR.

I agree to get it working first, but the "JMod" only require the cost of drill bits. A few $ at most.

Sweet i have been assaulted by Tommy
thanks for the input

Thank you "come again.
