squeeking and whining

Ok....so about a year and a half ago I had one of those aftermarket warranties on my 2001 LS V8. Had the usual coils, valve cover gaskets, air bag light issues.
Took to dealer and all has been fixed.
I even had the passenger side lower ball joint replaced because it failed. The whole knuckle and all is brand new.

Fast forward almost 2yrs later.
New dilemma.....
Something on the driver side is now making a racket.
I was thinking it is the lower ball joint.....but if memory serves me.....when the passenger side failed the noise was different. I could be wrong since it's been a while since I heard the noise it made.......but when driving AND when at a stop......if I turn the wheel in either direction....it squeeks very loud.
I mean when driving......as I go over any uneven pavement(which is everywhere in CA) it squeeks. I'm talking....as I drive it's just squeeking away.....very loud.
Sounds like something needs lubrication BAAAAD.
It started off as a slight squeek......but as the weeks went by it's now ridiculously loud. I mean embarassing loud.
It is DEFINITELY coming from the driver side.
I'm not sure if I need a lower ball joint, a tie rod, a control arm....
I did a search of the forums and it seems these are the recommendations that are coming up when someone has a similar problem.

Because it sounds like and "ungreased" part......I sprayed some WD-40 over all of the joints and bushings......it did absolutely nothing.

Now for the weird part.....
I had the car parked on the street 1 night and it rained for about 2hrs or so......when I went to drive it afterward......NO NOISE AT ALL!!!!
This lasted for 2 days.....then right back to the loud squeeking.
What could this be????

I mean it sounds like a bed that has very bad springs in it.....and someone is jumping on it......imagine that, but multiply the sound X's 5.

Any help would be appreciated

It definitely sounds like it should be checked out.

My car squeaked pretty noisily on the passenger side too and I just hosed all of the suspension, top of the coil overs etc. with PB blaster and doing that has shut it up for last 4 months. :p

I know that is not the answer you are looking for, but maybe it'll keep it quite before you have it checked.

well it seems you have mroe then one problem. when you said if you turn your steering wheel in either direction and it squeeks its could be that your steering fluid is low and that you probably have a leak. other could be the steering pump is going out. but then when you talk about squeeking when you hit bumps, im not sure about that.

Well to clarify.....
When i'm at a stop.....and I crank the steering wheel either left or right....2mm in either direction it squeeks. I mean I can place a finger on the steering wheel and barely move the wheel and it'll squeek.
If i'm just driving down the road it is squeeking......I mean at all times.

The crazy part is that today.....it rained and I drove to work in the early am.
I drove about 15min in the rain, and when I exited the freeway the squeek was completely gone.
It's still gone.

But again.... the last time it rained this is the same result. It makes no noise until 2 days later.
I'm assuming whatever is squeeking......gets wet and shuts up.
As soon as it dries....the squeek returns.

Check out the youtube clip. Does it sound like that? If it does, click on the link, it might be your sway bar bushings. I had that problem too.

YouTube- Broadcast Yourself.

Hmmmm...the video doesn't seem to be there anymore...I'll see if I can find it.

Can't find the video. But mine too would squeal like a demon if I even moved the wheel a little. And it would stop for a day or two and be quiet, but it always returned. Turned out to be my sway bar bushings. Replaced them with the poly bushings and been all good since.

sway bar bushings......hmmmm
i'll look into that.....i'm taking the car to a friends shop and he said he'd take a look for me. If it's the sway bar bushings i'll be a happy man.
Money is tight right now, so I know this would be the least expensive part to replace.
Damn wish that video was still working so i could be sure

If it does it when you're stopped then i don't thing it's the sway bar bushings. Two things come to mind for me. First is that my dad's F-150 makes a sound like that but not when stopped, it's and engine mount going bad on the passenger side so when the engine rocks it rubs and squeaks. Second is have your friend check your brakes. The reason the rain could make it go away when it rains it rusts brake parts, such as the rotor surface and the back of the calipers. If you caliper is bubbing something to make the squeak then something could be worn out. They do make all kinds of brake squeak-be-gone stuff. I use Napa branded "Disk Brake Quiet," it's orange.

Did you read the thread I sent you? Does it sound familiar to you? I do know that the symptoms you described such as squeeking ALL the time, even when stopped and only moving the wheel a mm or two were the same problems I had. If I remember correctly I disconnected the sway bar end links from the strut (very easy to do) and take a spin around the block. If the noise stops, you know its cuz your sway bar is no longer connected and your bushings are shot. If it doesn't stop, at least you know its not the bushings.
