Hello,
I am new to the forum so please forgive me if I missed a previous post that describes the same issue. Have a '00 LS V8 with 187,000 miles. For the past month I have been experiencing a wretched squeak from the driver's side rear. After removing the tire and thoroughly examining all joints and WD40ing every movable joint, the same problem exists but only when pushing down on the rear end. Any suggestions? Thanks.

shocks?

Put the car on ramps or somthing or find a skinny guy to lay under it while you bounce it to try and find the squeak.

Please do it safely though

Thanks for responding so quickly and thanks for the welcome. By "pushing down" I mean if I push on the rear quarter above the tire I can cause the squeak. Upon release there is no squeak. I did try to identify the location and, to my ears at least, it seemed to originate from the intersection of the axle shaft and the wheel. Although if it was something internal i.e. inside the wheel itself, I don't think it would occur only by body movement down or axle movement up. I would think it would be more consistent. It is annoying. No performance changes just an attention grabber.
