Squeaky brakes

Hey everyone.

Last week I installed new front pads and rotors.

Bendix CT-3's for the pads. And Wear-ever Rotors --- Same as the bendix name rotor.

Anyways, Applied the high temp grease that came with the pads. And now a week later when I break with pressure It squeaks..Rather annoying to be honest.

Anyone have any simple fixes? Or should I pop the wheels off and apply some more high temp grease to the pads.

im not sure i understand the term "put more grease on pad." that would be a bad idea. thats the last place you want grease. spray brake cleaner all over the rotor and pad if you got it on the friction surface. its possible the pad may squeak for a while if grease got baked in.

^^uh he means the back of the pad (i hope)


Might be clips or some other metal part in the brake assembly that is squeaking, you could try greasing that stuff if you only greased the pad the first time.

yes, i was hoping too, but you can never be sure. i wasnt trying to be sarcastic or anything. that first stop attempt sure would be a pantleg full of excitement though.
putting grease on the back wouldnt quiet a squeal as much as it would a clatter so i started to wonder. the most important thing is to grease the caliper slide. i saw an '00 that wouldnt release all the way probably from corrosion.
sometimes theres just oil on the rotor to prevent rust in the box. just try the brake cleaner and it should stop pretty quickly

I will try some brake cleaner on the rotor later on.

I have washed the car since the install aswell. The squeak is quite annoying though heh.

Honestly, I do not feel it would be the clips making this noise. Its just seems it comes from when there is friction.

My experience is that more often it is the pad that makes the noise.

I had some Pep Boys on my car and they squeeled like a peeg. Put on Raybestos, and the squeel went away. Both were the premium OEM replacement pad.

The dealer mechanic said OEM pads don't squeel. Most aftermarkets on the LS will squeel.

I noticed that the Raybestos pads I bought had a really slippery feeling shim on the back of the pads. Looked like metal but felt like teflon. Much slicker feeling than the Pep Boy shims.

A high temperature brake grease on the back of the pads helps. Raybestos comes with some whitish silicone grease.

Also you should check the caliper friction points like the bolts and the places where the metal parts are supposed to slide. These should also be greased, and should be checked, cleaned and greased on a regular basis, like every other oil change or so.

Jim thanks for your response..

These are OEM replacements. They where smooth-ish to the touch, but had say copper particles embeded into the material. They should not squeel though, they are ceramic =/

The high temp grease that came with these pads was also a clearish white paste.


Any other suggestions besides spraying the rotor down with brake cleaner, or just apply more grease to the caliper side of brake.

Remove pads and rotors, resurface rotors and replace pads with Akebono Pro-Act ceramic pads. Enjoy.

I'm not replacing the pads. No reason too..

I believe I know why the brakes are squealing like a pig when I stop. I'm an idiot.
It was my first time doing a brake job. I put the grease on the front of the pad, where the material is. only on the back pad. I wasn't sure.. I only read and assumed. I feel like an idiot now

Now after researching and youtube. I found my error However I am still confused

I put the grease on the left / right side of the clips that the pad sits on? I still don't now.

if you guys could point me in a the right direction, or a picture where to grease that will be fine. I'm going to spray the rotor down with brake cleaner. and re-install.
