Anyone who has swapped the air ride over to springs and shocks..in the front, what kind of washer did you use to secure the upper shock mount, the kit didn't come with anything and I wouldn't want to use just the nut by itself, seems like it would pull through the rubber, Is it possible to use the original aluminum spacer? (see pic below)

I have never converted but I don't see why you wouldn't be able to use a "good" washer but if the kit was meant for it, it should have been sent with it, if it was needed. I really don't know though. I'm sure many answers will be coming shortly. Hold tight and I'll see if I can get Sapper on this one.

The part of your shock that has MADE IN TAIWAN stamped on it, is that rubber or metal?

I'm not using any washer on mine. The crown is steel so there's no need

The top crown part is rubber, I started tightening down the spring compressors and tightened the nut and the nut started pushing into the rubber..so I wouldn't want to leave it like that, I could see it pulling through if there was no washer.

I'd just find two washers that are suitable and makes you feel more comfortable about it and add those and call it a day.

x2. Bring it to the hardware store and pick up a couple nice thick washers to place inbetween the two. I'm sure Ace has what your looking for in those make up your own price bins.

Thunderbirds have a large cupped washer stock, as seen in this pic from my SC.

Yep that's what I'm looking for, I went to the parts store looking for washers and after talking to one of the tech guys figured out there's a special washer that sits flush with the top of the shock mount..but of course they don't carry it..so ill be making a trip to the junk yard tomorrow to grab a set..

Yeah I could, but id rather get the washer that's shaped to fit the top of the mount so it doesn't flatten the rubber..besides it gives me a reason to hit the junk yard tomorrow lol :D
