spring conversion for the track

wow, that is pretty low. i still got those standard height springs if ya want them....maybe cut a coil off for a better stance if you want them. shpping would prob cost as much as i'd be asking. i'd give ya a deal as i have no use for em..
 
the prothane's are on there way took 6 days for summit to ship them. i think if i use your umhw stuff i will go all out upper and lower. i just had to drive it it has been killing me. i plan to pull the rear springs agian tomorrow and inspect everything

sorry about the delrin thing. i dont know where i got that. what does umhw stand for and what is its most common use?

no sorry. i am not getting rid of a brand new set of intrax just for ride height.
i will figure something out. i like the idea of dlf's stuff. just dont want to spend $$$ on something i am completely ignorant about.

i hate mice. never agian will i ever set a humane trap agian. i will be useing death traps.
the deff got to something on top of the tank i am about to search and see if there is an access point under the seat. but if i know anything about ford they did not. they make everything so difficult. just ask ripped cammel he will tell you.

o and about the IL road thing. i just spent 2 years of my life driving all over the nation. I got to spend a week in quincy IL there bad. but if you think youve got it bad just drive to new orleans. there interstates are fuuuked up. there is like a 6'' transition from one section to the other. and montgomery al. on 65 is the same way. like being on a suspension test track.
 
I am a truck driver.....been everywhere.....wasn't claiming who has the worst, just that IL hasn't done much patching of winter damage.
 
then you know how lucky i am to live in TN. the roads are great here

Just geting caught up on where you are. The front looks good, is the rear sitting low because your springs do not have perches or isolators? I'm assuming once you add them it will sit higher.......
 
it is sitting better now. i had some bull:q:q:q:q isolators but it is better now. i am now trying to build another set of purches i will post pics in the am. if you want a full list of parts pm me and i will type u up one. i am telling you right now. IF YOU HAVE THE MONEY CONTACT DLF AND BUY HIS STUFF. It will save you manny cuss words and a few hours of fab work
 
OK, post your parts list when you have time. Sounds like DLF's stuff would make things much easier. My only concern is if I go with Tokico springs, how thick would DLF's perches have to be? I'm counting on having to shim what ever perches I buy....... getting the ride height correct is a must IMO.

dlf will custom build you what you need. if you go ahead and put the car on the springs with the prothane supressors. then take a tape and find the diff betwene the front and rear he will cusom lathe you a set. it is worth it no shims needed.

for the front you will need
strutt
spring
upper strutt mount
strutt bushings
i would go ahead and inspect your upper and lower controal arms.

for the rear you need
shocks
springs
prothane 6-1709 WARNING these pieces will take upwards of 14 days to ship
dlf's uhmw stuff. by the way the material he uses is the same stuff used in replacement joints. good stuff

when i installed my tokico blues they came with the thunderbird rubber mount pices. all you need to do is take a torch to your mark vii mount and remove all the rubber from the mount. for a lack of better term the mark has a one piece shock mount. the tbird is a 3pc


so far i am pleased with my setup if you have any more questions pm me and i will give you my #

Correct. If you want something other than a 1/2" total, all you have to do is tell me.

Everything makes sense except the front strutt bushings? What are these?

I'm going to service my trans sometime soon, after that I plan on ordering all the parts to do the suspension. I hope to have it complete by mid-may.

I don't think it would matter. I make thicker lower perches for the T-Birds, because they only need one perch, but if I was making a full set for a Mark VIII, I'd probably add it to the upper perch as it doesn't have as much support.

Well, if I follow ZMT325's thinking, I would install the springs with only the upper perches and isolators and then measure how much I would need to level out the ride height and have you custom make the lowers to be the correct thickness. See his comments above from April 20th and give me your thoughts?

You have upper perches?

If so, then yes, I'll make the lowers any thickness that you want. Make sure that you use isolators on both the top and the bottom of the springs when you take your measurements.

That is funny because i forgot to put these in i did not want to admit this on here but i am a noob and comletely overlooked them. the suspension shop whom i had assemble my struts overlooked them to

still a little low in the back but i can live with it. what i awas saying is if you just place the car on the issolators and springs in the rear you can then measure. but do not drive it like that.

dlf is the man and will hook you up as fast as he can. once i get all the bugs out i will be spending some cash with him to. i feel it is a safer route then what i did.
 
I must be the noob, these look like bump stops that actually go over the top of the strut rod so the upper strut mount won't impact the top of the strut. Am I right? If so I would think the struts would come with these.

No, I don't have any uppers. I would assume that I could get these from you first, install the springs with isolators and then measure how much thicker I need the lowers to be.

We could do it that way. I'll be slightly more expensive due to two shipments.

Christ! Don't use those POS parts. :eek:

Use only Ford strut rod to LCA bushings.

You need two each of the following:

Strut Rod Bushings LCA - Front: E9SZ-3A140-A
Strut Rod Bushings LCA - Rear: E9SZ-3A140-B
