Correct me if I am wrong, but aren't the speedos in all Marks electronicly controlled? No cable and gear? All driven by vss? Or speed sensor at the rear end?

Leads me to my question, those if you will early first gens (obd1)... how do YOU properly recalibrate your speedometers after a gear swap?

My '93 has the factory ring/pinion but in a few months I am swapping out the gear and carrier. I saw a dakota digital speedo recal box on summits website but the instructions specifically say to NOT use on a vehicle with ABS... so what's a guy to do?

For mild changes you can get a drive (VSS) gear for the trans, for steeper changes a SpeedCal works great, shifts are controlled by the computer (fixed with chip or Xcal etc)...

In my 93 with 4.10's and the white 21 tooth speedo gear i'm 3 mph faster on speedo by gps so not to bad.

speedo gear. call max and he will tell you what color you need depending on tire size and what gear ratio you went with.

Speedo gear, however it is wise to chip the car afterwards because your shift points will be screwed up. The shifts will be earlier than optimal, some people say it doesn't bother them, but my chip puts the shift points where they were with the factory gear.

if you put a 5 or 6 speed you can get a digtal coverter from dallas mustang to calibrate the speedometer on a non obd ii car. it has 6 or seven dip switch that we used a gps to set the speedometer got it damm close .
