speakers and amp help

i did infinity 2 ways they sound nice and you can order them for around 60 a pair. dont use them a replacments for your rear deck subs they sound like crap. keep those stock.

i used boston 5x7s in the doors and also wired the back deck 5x7s off the rear door speakers, so 3 pair of boston 5x7s, cost me around 360 for them all. sound great

the speakers are mounted in the topside of that box.

No - only LSes with the Autophile option had the 12 speaker system.

12 speakers? Are there 4 in the sub box? What size are they?


itsnotmydaddys - How did you wire your rear deck speakers off your rear doors? I want to do this as well. I bet that helps the sounds alot!

I am wondering for those of you that replaced thier rear stock amp and kept there factory wiiring. (just tapped into them for the RCA's ) How big did you go? Was there any unwanted noise in the speakers from doing this?? am loooking at getting a 150 mono amp. small enough that it will fit in the old location. I just don't really want to run new wires.

I feel like the same info was repeated 1,000 times but it was all written differently. My question, I'm hooking up 2 monitors and a DVD player in my 00LS8. I need to find the switched 12v source. I have what I guess is the Alpine system that everyone talks about. The head unit(tape player) says Alpine and I have a changer in the glove box. What wire can I tap into on the factory harness(radio) to power my eauipment? Any help is appreciated!!!! Happy 4th!

The "12" speakers are 2 in center console 2 in EACH door and 2 subs. Also I tried taking the high level signal to the factory subs and hooked up my amp to it. It always sounded really bad. Someone told me that the factory HU cuts everything off below 50HZ or something. Is this not true?? I ended up replacing the factory HU to get a good signal back there. I really didnt want to because I loved the factory HU. I had the audiophile system.

Gray1g I ended up using the wiper (I believe) circuit for remote power for my amp. I took it directly from the fuse box behind passanger side kick panel.

when you hooked up you hi level input directly to your amp did you hook them up to the hi level input on the amp? my amp doesn't have hi inputs available, only low. what i want to do is take the hi low converter and the factory amp out of the equation because i am getting clipping at low volumes. it used to work but i think the converter is slowly committing suicide. originally the stock subs were so quiet that i didn't even know that they were back there. that is why i am thinking that i could go directly from the hi level that goes into the stock amp and send that to the line level on the aftermarket sub amp. any opinions???

In my 2003 LS6, I have the Alpine in-dash 6 CD player but (2) speakers in the front console, (1) in each door and (2) mounted under the rear deck not in a box - i think that's only 8. am I missing a few ?

i think you'll find the Infinity speakers sound "bright"; Polk have more mid-range. Whatever you get, match them from the same company to get the best sound.
