Sorting out the 5R55

Does anyone have the 5R55 sorted out. The trans in my '03 LS8 in the most confused trans of any car I've ever driven, though it seems mechanically sound. I know it's an electronic valve body trans, so I guess I'm talking about a software repair. I also know the same trans is used in the new body style Mustang, and it gets great reviews for strength and performance.

You think that's bad, try making sense of the Mercedes 7 speed auto, that new 8 speed from Lexus, or the CVT that Audi uses. I think Nissan has a CVT now as well.
