My transmission started shifting bad the second week of January. I've been driving it with the 1-2, 2-3 shift being rough. I figured it out that i had to keep rpm as close to 3k as possible during the shift points to keep it shifting ok. Had it diagnosed at dealer, they recommended a complete swap since i had 176K miles and replacing part by part at this point would be foolish. I agreed and continued driving as best i could. Earlier this week i went to back out of my driveway and it wouldnt move. No matter what gear it wouldnt catch. After trying everything i could think of i just put it reverse and hit the gas, it finally caught and off i went. Sucked heading off to work everyday not knowing if i would be getting towed home.
Dropped car off this past thursday... picked up yesterday with new tranny. I know its alot but there's a certain peace of mind knowing the dealer did the swap and i'll be getting a 3yr/36k warranty. Im at the point with the LS that with every repair i have to decide am i gonna keep the car or should i ditch it. At this point with all the money i have poured into it i might as well keep it. Total cost for tranny swap: $3,047. They explained its a remanufactured oem tranny which is about as close as your gonna get to a "new oem" tranny. Didnt want some cigarette smelling greasy guy at a tranny shop to rebuild my existing crapped out tranny case. Drives fantastic now. Before the tranny started its problems the car felt like it had a loss of power. I now believe that feeling of a loss of power was the tranny going bad.
