Alright I got my 97' mark to run great FINALLY!!... if you read the other threads you already know what I did... but yeah just in case... I changed air filter cleaned all the sensors changed coils and everything... it runs great nice and smooth like a lincoln!

but the problem is... twice now it's happened... once in a parking garage and another time comming out of a parking lot... it just dies... no warning... no sputter... it just dies... it's really scary cause the brakes go out sorta too... so I was just wondering if you guys had any ideas why it would just die like that... I noticed it does drop idle pretty low from time to time... like around 400 rpms... it shakes a tiny bit then comes back up... it's baffling

IAC would be my first guess if it otherwise runs fine (above idle and warm)

Thank god you have a 97, easy to change. Lookie here:

Small silver-ish canister near the throttle body. You can try tapping it, but thats hard to do when your moving.

Generally not a good idea to clean it, but you could try and see if it helps. if it does, best to replace it.

Cool thanks that's what I was figuring it was... and it's funny I did tap it and it run's a little better... I think when I get paid I might get a new one... might as well found one for 40 bucks from carquest... thanks for the info!

Get a Motorcraft IAC unless you want to replace it again in the near future.

My conti does it once in awhile, always at a idle in drive. Figured it's normal. My truck does it, my mom's explorer did it. Probably a 4.6 thing.

As posted above, $40. A Motocraft one may run a bit more but I believe still under $60.
