I would like some guide lines for my search for new wheels.

Are there any brands to stay away from?

Are wheel and tire packages a good deal?

Who makes a quality wheel?

Are China wheels ok to buy?

Do you get what you pay for when buying custom wheels?

At what point do you need bigger brakes to counter the
added dynamic weight of the bigger wheel?

Are there things you should look for when you get your new wheels?

Thanks
John

Some are and some arent, it all depends on the sale it self.

Who makes a quality wheel?

TSW, Luff, BBS, AME, OZ, and those are just what I can think of off my head.

Never, its all in the tires and brake lines. Get tires that have good bite. IMO you cant go wrong with TOYO Proxes T1R's, I have had them since they came out on 2 different cars, one with 20's (my LS ) and one with 17's ( my Datsun ) and I had just as good braking power with my LS as the Datsun.

Braided brake lines help alot as well, they help keep the fluid cool which is the cause of brake fade.

Not realy, but if you want them to stay nice I would look into the materials that make up the wheel and its finish. You dont want to get a nice set and clean them the wrong ways and ruin them, I have seen to many idiots do this to nice wheels. Half of them out there can just be cleaned exactly like you would your car, a bucket of good cleaner like Polmolive with a soft sponge, a gentle polish and good wax.

Go to www.superbuytires.com. They have over 150 brands of wheels from just about every major wheel make out there. You also can see what wheels fit the LS and according to their database, it's a lot. More than what a lot of people may think. I always say still shop around. When you find a set that you like, get the name of the company and the name of the rim and just call around and see what different places sell them for. You'll be surprised. Even try ebay as well.

I have to agree with Mysterio505 on the questions answered.

superbuytires.com does list alot of wheels for our cars. I just oredered mine from www.victoriatire.com. I got a good deal, and they had the rims in stock that I wanted. I should have some pics up this week.

if you want 3 piece customs i can get you a set of DPE 19" signature series black with chrome lip at my sponsorship pricing. they were made in the wrong size for my car. i wanted 20s not 19s.

Just to let you know, I can tell you for fact that is not the right selection of wheels for the LS from superbuytires.com. I had my eyes on a bunch of those wheels in the past and there is no way of getting some of them on the car even with my ideas on rolling, pulling, and tire stretch.

I have a set of Voxx Misano wheels 17x8 with Yokohama YK520 tires for sale. They have about 5,000 miles on them.

There you go jpd, basicly exactly what you wanted, not?

One good question, why do they look like 2 different sets of wheels in those pics.

Different center caps. I found a set of black Lincoln center caps on Ebay and put them on the car.

Wheels are 17x8. Tires are 245/45/17. $800. which includes shipping. The tires also have a replacement plan from Discount Tire that they said is transferable. Wheels and tires are in perfect condition.

Love them, and a 5th one fits very nicely in the spare well that Lincoln kindly made quite so accomodating.
