I've had my heater core jumped nearly since I bought my car.

Now I'm putting the heater core hoses back on and can't tell from the shape of the hoses which connector on the heater core goes to which connector on the engine.

Which connect on the heater core goes to the lower connect on the engine? Could anyone run out to the car and check for me?

THANKS

Crap greg... I can't tell. does the connect on the passenger side of the heater core connect to the top connect on the engine?

reviving old thread...car running hot, pinpoint test B4, heater core operation, run engine with pressure relief cap, as it warms compare inlet and outlet heater water hoses (they should feel the same after 3-4 minutes)

...these are pictured above...yes?

I hope mine is good, that looks like a ____ to replace, hopefully not too bad to flush?

Those hoses are crammed back there. I will give you my secret heater core flush treatment. CLR. Works like you would not believe. Everytime someone comes in with no heat and no leaking core, it gets the treatment. You can fry eggs on vents after. Ohhh ahhhh heat. Just don't get the stuff on you or in eyes.

For a Gen2 ...

1) Is the top hose in the image above the heater inlet hose ?

2) Is there a coolant bleeder valve for removing air out of the coolant system ?

Is there a coolant bleeder valve for removing air out of the coolant system ?

you need to open the coolant crossover tube plug. up front by the alternator. that is the best place to remove air in the coolant system.

i jam a funnel in there, fill it with coolant and start the car. you can watch the bubbles come out.
when the bubbles stop, i remove the funnel and put the cap back on.

When I did the valve cover gaskets in the 97 I also ordered replacement heater hoses, amongst other things. They were substantially easier to deal with without the valve cover in place. :D

I'm going to use the Prestone Flush N' Fill Kit.

I'm not going to cut the heater inlet host as described in the Prestone instructions. I'm going to disconnect the heater inlet hose from the engine, temporarily attach the T connector at the end and then connect a small piece of 3/4" hose to the T connector and engine. After the flush is done, I'll remove the T connector and small piece of hose and reattach the heater inlet hose to the engine.

I just need to confirm if the heater inlet hose, pictured above, is the one on top ?

The lower hose carries hot coolant from the passenger side head to the heater core. The upper hose carries coolant from the heater core to the backside of the water pump. The "heater inlet hose" would be the lower hose.
