Some GEN I to GEN II questions...

I have had my 02 LS for 7 years now. I have gotten her up to 136K, and have been looking for a low mileage 06 replacement. I am trying to work a deal on one now. Now for the questions...... Are the GEN I stereo head units compatible in a GEN II NAV car? Are the steering wheels the same? Will my XCAL 2 work with new tunes? If anyone knows the answers I would apreciate it!

The XCAL 2 will work on all Lincoln LS's, and as you stated, you will need new tunes.

No, the headunits are not interchangeable between generations.
Even if both were gen II, you can't just swap a nav headunit for a non-nav headunit. The wiring to the nav is very different. The speaker connections don't even run to the headunit. They run to a four channel amp in the trunk.

Oh God..... This is what I am worrying about then... The car is a NAV car, but the DVD drive was not working, so the dealership (yes the dealership did this) put in a pioneer single din radio. I want to swap my Sony XAV-70BT double DIN that I have in my first gen. I hope that all the wiring adaptors are there and not just cut on the 06 that I am looking at.

In that case, there's no telling what you will find. If they made the Pioneer work correctly, then you should be able to make your Sony work correctly as well.

...yeah, we will see. Everything else on the car checks out great. 1 owner, low miles, and nicely optioned (minus the NAV)...

I would be leary of a dealer that did something like that. But you may be able to get a good deal because of it and have it work out if you wanted to swap out the head unit anyway.

Well as it turns out they "found" the nav head unit and are including it in the deal. The problem was with the nav dvd player and they didnt want someone crying warranty on the NAV I guess. Looks like I am going to make a deal in the next couple of days.

Thanks... Looks like its going to happen, so I will have a NAV head unit for sale at some point. My neighbor is desprately trying to get one of his family members to buy my current LS (he knows how I take care of my cars) after I told him how much I was getting on trade ... Too bad he doesnt drive anymore.
