Some EcoBoost news + MKS

MKS will get EcoBoost within 6 months time, with paddle-shifters, and new wheel/tire package. 340hp (and about similar amounts of torque) on 87 octane.

The MKS with Ecoboost better have more than 340hp if Lincoln wants to compete. While 340 is not bad it is kind of weak.

The max hp that the EcoBoost can deliver is 415 hp, although these days, people are probably more concerned about fuel economy than hp, and 340 hp and 340 lb-ft torque are pretty bloody decent.

Most people that are able to lay the coin down for a car like the MKS are usually not terribly concerned about affording gas. I am not rich by any stretch of the term but I am not terribly concerned about gas prices yet. They do suck, but you still see me putting 93 into the gas tank of the ol' V8. I am much more concerned about hp versus fuel economy.

While 340 is respectable it doesn't even compare to the power in other cars offered in the same class it will be competing against. For it to be competitive it better have 400+ out of the box. Just my thoughts on that.

Yeah, but what other cars have 400+ hp for under $50K?

Not even close.

Lincoln never had any plans to build the car, it was McLaren's project. Lincoln wouldn't help them with the PCM, so even McLaren didn't come close to building anything beyond the show car, although some of the styling cues did show up in the LSE.

Well, a lot of reliable sources, including Ford's own news reports, have pretty solid numbers for the EcoBoost.

I think the TT 4 cylinder could do wonders for Ford's smaller lineup.
