I've been an owner of several LS's and have always found good, sound advice on this board. But I must say 'see ya'. I'll be switching over to the MKS board. My '05 was a great car and someone is going to get a gem. But it was ...oh I don't know...getting old. And it had some winter problems. Like not letting me into the car if it was below -15 F. I didn't usually absolutely have to be anywhere, being retired, if it was that cold but I'm 70 and don't feel like crawling through the trunk anymore.
Only had 69K miles on it.

So, I picked up (what I think is) another gem. Every option. The dealership owner drove it. Ecoboost/AWD,etc.

Watch for me on the MKS thread. I'll be lurking because I hope I don't have any problems.

By the way, I kept the floor mats (grey) from the 05 LS. Free for the postage from Canada. Or, if you live in Ottawa. Free.

I think it's great how many people are being loyal to the brand even though the offerings that are available just can't compete with the competition.

Good luck and if you have the ecoboost with the appearance package then that's a pretty sweet car for a retired guy IMO.

I'm also sad to say this but there's not much action on the mks forum. You could probably check it 2 times a year and not miss a thing.

Well, I hope the lack of comments on the MKS board are because there are few or no problems.

I owned a 02 LS and a 05 LS. I moved to the LS because (for a while) they quit making the SHO...I owned 2 of them.

I hope the MKS lives up to my expectations.

I'm not going to bash on Lincoln or it's drive train but I believe there are AWD MKS', not sure about the MKZ. My father since coming to the U.S. in 1975 has ONLY ever owned Lincolns so there is some sort of brand loyalty built into me from him - it is also probably one of the reasons I bought the LS. However, the new Lincolns offer nothing I'd personally want in a car. Sure, it's a Lincoln, but other than that I'd rather go Cadillac for the price. You still get the luxury, better performance, reliability, options in terms of AWD, FWD, RWD, etc. And if I had a bit more money I'd go Jaguar and that would be that. In my eyes, Jaguar is really handling themselves well and has made one of the larger turn arounds in the car market that I can remember. A little while ago I can't recall even seeing Jaguars - it was a rarity, now they are all over. They would be my first choice if I could afford it, with the XFRS, XF even the F type is gorgeous. Hopefully Lincoln revitalizes and I think that's what they were attempting to do with the new product line, but overall it has been a failure. The Town Car turned into a Minivan, the MKS if you dont get the AWD Ecoboost is a waste and the MKZ is just too expensive if you want the options that matter. I mean the sunroof alone is an 8,000$ addon? Seriously? I priced out an MKZ with the options I would've wanted and it was 56k.... the XF with the options I wanted was 60k. No brainer there. I just cant see myself buying another Lincoln until they do something to win back the appeal.

Thats what I`am going with too. You can select with the touch of a button, between 3 different suspension rides. Tons of options including aAdjusts the suspension in milliseconds to deliver exceptional ride smoothness and handling responsiveness Comfort, Normal or Sport mode - Provides firmer steering feel at higher speeds Pull-drive compensation constantly monitors and corrects for road irregularities BLIS® (Blind Spot Information System) can alert you to a vehicle in a blind spot zone with an indicator light in the corresponding sideview mirror7 - Cross-traffic alert provides audible and visual signals when it detects a vehicle approaching when you're slowly backing out of a parking spot or driveway - the available rearview camera outside, to voice-activated A/C inside,Easy-to-use voice-activated controls. The dual panel sunroof is $2,200 option, not $8,000 as previously stated. They come in AWD, plus you get 38 MPG.

Yes, but they are heavily FWD biased with the associated nose-heavy wrong way mounted engine.

I like the mkz and mks awd not the forward wheel drive. plus the new mkz can practically drive itself http://autos.yahoo.com/blogs/motoramic/2013-lincoln-mkz-drives-itself-motoramic-tv-163320831.html

There's just what I want...... A car that removes the only true enjoyment of owning one...

I can`t believe you hyjack Peter`s thread about selling his LS and making stupid remarks about FWD when he stated he bought AWD

His "AWD" is really a FWD with some power run back to the rear axle for when the front wheels aren't doing enough. The engine is in sideways and most of the weight is still in the front.

Contrast this to a BMW 3 series AWD. In their case, they take a RWD car and run power back up to the front wheels. The engine is still turned front to back and the weight is still pretty well balanced front to back. The back wheels remain dominant, instead of the front wheels.

I apologize for exaggerating the price of the panoramic sunroof - it's $6,000. The sunroof itself is $3,000 but the "package" that comes with the sunroof is 6k. Way over priced either way.

No need to say someone's comments are "stupid" either. He was just adding his opinion.

OK I`am just the saying the thread was about selling his LS and it ends up being bashed because he bought an MKS because someone doesn`t like it because he says its FWD, when in fact its AWD

... he says its FWD, when in fact its AWD

I'm not speaking to if there is bashing or not...

You are not understanding something here. You seem to think there are three kinds of cars, FWD, AWD, and RWD. This is not really true. There are FWD, RWD, AWD based on FWD, and AWD based on RWD. There is a major difference between AWD based of FWD and AWD based on RWD. Handling and performance wise, AWD based on FWD is pretty close to FWD (in normal dry driving), and AWD based on RWD is pretty close to RWD.
His point about it being FWD is still a very valid one. In reality, it is.

Yep. These AWD systems don't even engage the minor wheels unless slippage is detected, otherwise only the front or rear wheels have power depending on whether the car is FWD or RWD oriented. The only true AWD cars I'm aware of are Subarus which have a symmetrical AWD setup. Subarus send power to all 4 wheels at all times.

This is the problem, People. WTF is brand loyalty gonna do except hold back a company? Apple is a fine example. Same **** phone every year, nothing innovated, yet the iSheep continue with brand loyalty and don't benefit.

Large corporations losing customers have to rethink their product. If you continue buying Lincoln, and you don't like what they have, you give them no reason to change.

And to you, Congratulations on your upgrade. I'm sure this Ford will treat you far better, Ford has made major changes since the retched 2000's days.

Blackberry fits in the example, Apple has brand loyalty regardless of innovation.
