Hello everyone,

Just recently noticed small drops of oil under the front end of my car. I know about the leaky valve cover gaskets leaking into the coil slots, and I have had to change my coils, but no oil in there.

So I had a mechanic check under there for me and he said the oil filter housing gasket may be the leak problem OR the oil pan gasket.

So i replaced the oil pan gasket first. Still leaking.

Has anyone had the oil filter housing gasket leak issue. Or where could this be comming from and maybe some suggestions where else to look that could be possibility.

2002 ls v8

Thanks

Yes, there have been a very few cases of leaks at the oil filter adapter. Pictures of oil spots under the car do not tell enough to diagnose this any better than to say it could be the oil filter, oil filter adapter, valve cover gaskets, oil pan (if the pan is warped, a new gasket won't fix it), front seal, timing cover gaskets, and so on.

It's not too difficult to figure out where it is. Clean the front of the engine really good with engine cleaner spray. Then watch for where the oil comes back at first.
