I love my new 06. It is a beauty and a beast. However, there's one thing that really miffs me about her design - the gauges!

Lincoln, you designed an awesome luxury sport vehicle, but you must have phoned in the design on the gauges. Maybe the lead designer for that was due to retire soon? All I know is that the gauges pretty much look like those in the "designed for old folks" Town Car.

What's really sad is that my wife's Ford Freestar minivan has sportier looking gauges than my ride. Even changing/adding the reverse glow option to the LS gauges doesn't change the shape or design of them.

How hard would it have been to design a decent gauge pack to compliment the rest of the car's sportiness?

Ah well, rant-mode off. I guess we can't have EVERYTHING we want. There'd be nothing to complain about.

I dont know, they seem like all the other Ford gauges I've ever seen...

With that, I dont know what you mean by sporty either, how are gauges sporty?

ew...no...no Mazda...hut an Audi maybe.....I could always kill an animal and spread its remains all over the green to turn it red..then have 10 air fresheners in the car :P

I would define sporty as being complete circles instead of the half-moon-type design - have chrome trim rings around them or something else to set them off. I've heard that a good chunk of the car's design is from Jaguar (not saying it's true) and a Type S' cockpit has a little bit more sport to it.

I'll shoot a pic of the minivan's gauges, and you guys can sound off it it looks better to you than what we've got in our LS's.

I know this is gonna be subjective, and everyone's opinion could be different (or maybe just mine is).

I love the ford green!!! :P

Id also love light blue like in the new mercury's. They also got that interior trim lighting that looks bad ass too!

"Ew"....isn't that a high school girl expression? You have used this a number of time, I have never heard any of my male friends or adult female friends for that matter use that expression; I was just wondering.

I've never seen a Lincoln in which I've liked the factory gauges. They're more suited to someone 50+ than a sports sedan enthusiast. I'm not very nuts about the silver center portion of the dash either. The shape just seems off to me, and I'd prefer it integrated into the dash better. Although, I do like the rest of the car quite a bit.

Alot of work but check out this custom fab from an SHO.... http://www.taurusclub.com/wiki/index.php/Create_a_custom_gauge_face Or..... you could always buy a first gen. They don't have the old man gauges just the ugly Ford green.

In my Taurus I had added in Autometer gauges for volts, boost, and oil pressure. I liked the look of the Cobalt series with the blue led numbers and red needles, but didn't like the green/red of the factory gauges. So, I took out the factory gauges and used acetone and q-tips to wipe off the factory green color, then spray the back of the gauges with duplicolor blue metal cast paint. When the paint dried I put in autometer white led bulbs to replace all of the factory bulbs for the gauges and viola, all of the factory gauges in the dash matched the cool autometer gauges I added to my a-pillar.

Problem is, I'm talking about the actual shapes of the gauges - not as much the color. I don't know why, but I really don't like the half-moon shape/design and how the two main gauges kind of get overlapped on each other. To me, it seems that is a common design for "older" luxury cars.

So I was watching E! earlier (very bored) and they were doing celebrity-almost deaths. And during some of the celebrities getting in crashes bit, they would show a close up of our same gauge clusters running @ like 70mph lol. I thought it was funny cuz I instantly recognized the speedometer and this thread was going. Oh and it was the awesome green we have lmao

ew is where I find my distast. If you you want to replace the ew with "gay" then tha'ts more retarded cause you're calling the other members whom like the green, gay.

I just have my distaste for the color green/yellow (including amber turn signals)

I like blue, red, black, and silver.....that's it :P

100% sporty would be nice but I can see where the Lincoln designers are coming from. It's a luxary sport so I suspect they were trying to keep the interior as close to Lincoln luxary style as they could while making performance and handling on the sport side. Looking back they probably should have been more radical with their design just like Cadillac did with the CTS.

The 2nd Gen clusters look nice compared to the 1st Gens.

If you want a custom look your going to have to fab it utilizing the stock cluster cause there is no way of dropping a different one in and even then making sure its all spot on is a task at hand.

I feel that the guage cluster in my Wife's Mountaineer looks better than the LS one. It has volt and oil pressure gauges, plus it has a silver/white face in the day and when at night has that nice green and red needles glow.
