Sirius Install

I searched and found nothing, however I have a question. I have a 2003 Lincoln LS it has the 6-disc in dash radio. I have been a longtime Sirius subscriber and recently have had to upgrade my radio, so I purchased a Sportster 5. Only to find out that Sirius had to degrade there built in FM wireless modulator's power. Well now I have a lot of static and am required to purchase:

My question is will this plug directly into my radio or do I need another adapter to get this plugged in? I remember either GM head units or Ford having a smaller plug I guess I just want to ensure I have everything I need before I tear into my dash.

are you using the intergrated SAT in your head unit or not, if you have a 03 you should have it integrated. here is the links for this

I do not believe my car is "sirius ready" I lack anything on my radio that says SAT. That is why I am going this route.

Sirius-ready was a mid-'04 change; it wasn't available at all in '03 (though there is supposed to be a firmware update that will allow you to add it to some of the Nav-equipped '03 LSes). If it's an '03 and not a Nav unit, then it's not Sirius-ready.

Unfortunately, with an '03, you're in a rigidly-defined area of doubt and uncertainty when it comes to line-in adapters for the factory head units. There are PIE adapters (like the PIE X3) that will allow you to connect your Sirius unit via a line-in connection, but this is not true of all '03s; you'll have to talk to a PIE dealer to see, but from what I've been told, the only way to know for sure is to actually get one of the units and try for yourself. (It has, as I understand it, something to do with a mid-year change to the audio system in the '03 LS.)

One thing I was investigating (and am still considering) is the Harmon Kardon Drive+Play 2. It's supposed to integrate well with Sirius units, has iPod control, and it can connect to your head unit via a line-in adapter or via an FM modulator. When I was looking, there wasn't much information on the Drive+Play 2, but that should have changed by now. (Make sure you're looking at the Drive+Play 2, rather than the older Drive+Play; the 2 was, last I checked, over $300, while the original was around $150-ish.)

I tore into it... It is installed, looks nice and well hid. It is tight back there put it fits. Almost lost my car in the process but that is another story. LOL
