I didn't think the white would really go with my car, so I ordered some silver ones, so they match the center stack on my Gen 2.

They couldn't make it much harder to remove the damn cluster..
 
That looks real nice man, I didnt know they had a choice over white faced gauges.
 
Yea, if you buy the ones on ebay or look at their ebay store you can see the color changing options... lots of them, can change the needle color too.

Forgot to post the in car picture, I wasn't done puting the dash back together but oh well.

Yeah man, getting that cluster out is a royal PITA. Been there done that like 4 times. lol

I like the silver. Looks better than the white ones I had in mine.

Kind of, I just ordered directly from their site. It was $30 more for the color change.

My needles moved but I didn't take them off..

You can install the kit without removing them, I cut the overlay with a razor from so I could slide it under and around the needle shaft.

Getting them lined up wasn't hard, you can see very very faintly the outline of the stock white numbers and such through overlay numbers. It is dimmer than stock, but not so much that you wouldn't like it. The indicators like ABS and BRAKE are really dim through the silver but still clearly readable.
 
move the steering wheel all the way out and down, disconnect the battery. Remove the lower panel on the dash, the trim around the light switch and ignition, the trim around the gauge cluster, the cover on the steering wheel.

I also had to remove the ignition cylinder to get at one of the screws for the cluster, not sure if thats necessary if you have the right tool though.

I think that was it, it took quite a bit of messing around, tilting whatnot to actually get my cluster out, you have to be carefull not to scratch the cluster lense as its not the most durable / scratch resistant plastic.
 
Quick question.. Would gen 2 gauges fit a gen 1? I like the styling a lot better.. Is the mileage saved in the PCM or in the gauge cluster itself?
 
I believe its in the cluster, I'm not sure about the gen 2 overlay working on a gen 1.. .you might need an alternate lighting source as I doubt the tach and speedo would line up perfect. It shouldn't be that hard to do though, I think Pektel said he had backlighting on his.
 
and since Gen2 speaks CAN and Gen1 did not - it's likely a non-starter.

I believe there are LLSOC members who were able to put Gen2 overlay on a Gen1 cluster.
