Hello All!!!

Anyone know where I can get the silver double din kit? I want to install my JVC double din 7" but I'm not sure where to get the matching silver dash kit for my 03 LS.

Also is the anything I need to know like if I will have to cut anything & such? I had this unit in my 2000 Town Car & that was a pain as not only did I have to cut stuff back there I also had to heat the Air duct to push it up & out of the way so the stereo would slide in.

It looks like this one.

with the rug on the dash and everything?

I'm pretty sure you can still order them at a reasonable price. Check with Max.

Or just get one of the black ones they have and paint it yourself which is not hard at all.

That's the same one Ken has on his website but he want's 41.99 for it which is too much. He has it listed for black or silver too.

Don't buy one of the after market double din kits they sell for the LS and I think sometimes advertised as T-bird double dins, their black and textured. if you do the install yourself painting that pos kit may not be bad but a pain in the ass. Because you'll have to fit the head unit then un-install it then sand the texture off, match the interior color, then RE-install it. if you're paying a shop to do the install you'll pay double the install cost with the cost of the kit, and another shop to paint it *if you dont paint it*. I went through this mental debate with the install of my Pioneer D3 Nav unit a while back. Thinking, "a double would be AWESOME!!! but a flip up would be so much cheaper, but look insanely crappy in the LS. I hate the way the flip ups cover the vents* I'd suggest buying a bezel off lskoncepts... crap they're sold out http://www.lskoncepts.com/store/lincoln-ls-navigation-bezel-double-din-p-142.php This one looks exactly like the one i purchased, http://www.teamfordparts.com/partlo...fo&PartID=327271&siteid=214270&catalogid=4014 even cheaper, but look around on google for a ls bezel for a nav unit OEM. I think I paid 70 or even more on lskoncepts.. crap i could be wrong. It was a couple years back. But obviously there was cutting to the bezel BUT NO cuttin to the dash or internals. I've got a rats nest of wires behind my deck with all the add-ons i purchased and it fits.

But really, you wana JVC in your lincoln? I know the D3's not the best but I had it installed 2 years ago.

I'll try and put up some pics later this week

Crap, should've read ALL the replies earlier, thats a good deal for the ebay piece. Anyone actually bought one? how the color match? thats the only thing I'd be sketched about with the ebay kit. Eh, but what do I know, I'm still a noob here

Go with the OEM! You will not regret it. I love my double din. Kept that factory look and still proud of my 3-year-old alpine.

all of the dash kits i have bought have not been textured, they where both smooth, i got mine before they started making them in silver so i painted it, very easy, not hard at all.

The Metra kit sold at sonicelectronix is as close to OEM as you can get. I have the silver (as referenced in the thread link), and I could not tell a difference in color or texture from the OEM dash panels.

Unfortunately I cannot see the photos you linked Blu. I think they are blocked by my work. I have never seen a silver non-OEM adaptor.

Here is a shot of my install.

If I recall correctly, I bought this from Rollin for $40

Thanks I was curious about how the silvers kits matched the factory color. I plan on upgrading to a double din down the road.

I found the silver metra kit locally here in Vegas for $19 so i'm good on that now. I picked up the wire harness for the Alpine Audiophile system for $20. Thanks for all the replies & help.

I know this thread is a little old, does anyone know the paint color to match the Gen 2 center stack?

I appreciate it Alax, couldn't find it for the life of me... my search must be broken... or its operator error. LOL
