Thank God I found this sight. Looks like fun. I live in Hollywood, CA and a year ago I bought actor Kirk Douglas' last new car he ever bought before his stroke. It's a 1991 DeVille Touring Sedan. Knew someone that knew someone as they say; low mileage, 55k, in pretty good shape, a real looker. In storage for years. Always wanted to own this rare model, and to think some notoriety comes with these four doors as well, considering the previous owner.

Well, I'm paying for the privelege now...and how! $6,000.00 in repair bills in only ten thousand miles of driving, and I only paid $3,200. for it too. New fuel injectors, rebuilt lower bearings, a host of other niggling electrical glitches. Most recently was the tranny to go...sheesh, what next? I should have kept my 1990 Town Car, which never gave me any trouble.

My next stop on this website: the DeVille problem-solvers page and repair bill support group. :slam

(LOL!) You sound like I did 4 years ago when I had my '94 T-bird. It can be a labor of love at times. I know I'd have a rough time myself, especially if I had a car with a history like that. BTW, :W aboard to :V I hope you enjoy the site as much as I do. Look forward to hearing more from you in the near-future!

A '91 Deville Touring Sedan? I wish I had a break-down of Deville production but I'll bet there weren't many built. I know you are taking it on the chin from the repairs but you must realize that virtually any car would probably have the same issues after such prolonged storage unless there were a lot of special care taken before and during the storage period. Welcome aboard, I'm sure you'll have plenty of advise and support here.

Good Luck! The car is Very very worth it!

I bought my 98 Lincoln, from a dealership, Smithtown Lincoln Mercury, Smithtown, NY ... $11k with 60k miles... I now owe $9200 left in payments on it...

I've replaced the tranny, and a few other things... I'm quite a few grand in.. I still need to fix the HVAC unit, just did the blower motor thanks to Eric1, still need Mirrors replace, Telescoping Wheel fixed, Tilt wheel fixed... could use new tires, oh yeah, replaced the Air Suspension, loads of Motor Work, my Moonroof leaks...

The dealership refuses to touch the car and honor the warranty because I've added Handicapped Adaptive Equipment (IE A standard Hand Control installation) ... lawsuit anyone?

:L I have too... because the headaches are more like heart attacks, I MUST LOVE MY LINCOLN.

Welcome to the board, JJS! Hope it's all downhill for you from here.

And hotweelz, I hope you can rectify the situation with your warranty, cause that's just not right. My brother is constantly getting hosed because of his disability in one way or another.

Welcome to the site and welcome to ownership of a 13 (or older) year old vehicle!

:W to the LvC.....sorry to hear about the problems you have had, but being the fact that it was in storage for so long.....it is not surprising....too bad you did not do some of the repairs yourself....could have saved some $$$$$.

Good luck with it in the future....and you came to the right place.

Lawyer says I don't have much cuz the dealership didn't do the hand control installation.. but if we review back to one of my first ever posts on LvC, we see that the dealership didn't want to have them installed for me :(
