I have idea what it is but lets see if anybody thinks different on this. Ok when i start the car and let it warm up, when i shift from park to drive, it doesn't do it if i put in into reverse, the rear sqwats and kinda little jerk. This only happens the first time i take the car out in the morning. If i take it out any other time during the day after this, it doesn't do it. Anybody have an idea why this happens. I have posted before but it is a 2002 sport v8.(automactic)

this happened to a friend of mines, he kept running over the neighbors cat every morning when he left for work, check under the car before you leave

mine squats too going into a forward gear but it lets up when i put it back in neutral or park...just figured it was the suspension setting up from a little torque being put on it when it's in gear.

EDIT:
i don't have any jerking or anything of the sort though

not so much of jerking just fells like a jerk just like you said 2000 lsv8. Have treid put it into neutrel after i will try that tommrow. as for ball joints there ok sway bushing i have replaced myself with those black grease one posted on here, and the links are new. It is rear wheel drive so, the front end conponents should not have anything to do with it

Mine does the exact same thing. I think I have posted this before with no luck.

Mine does it as well - Though I make sure to come to a complete stop before shifting from R into D, it still jerks a bit. On a few occasions it didn't though, but I don't think it's anything to worry about.

There was a service bulletin about shifting into reverse causing hesitating and jerking if I remember right. It is fixed with a computer flash. As for the shifting into drive issue do you mean that you put it into drive and then the car doesn't move forward? Or, do you mean that you can't put the shifter into D? Are there any associated sounds? My car squats some when I put it in gear, but like many others I chalk that up to torque on the suspension. I would think that if you had a U joint going out that there would be a bang sound associated where the joint seizes up. If you think that might be the case fix it fast. It can get very exciting when U joints have a catastrophic failure.

No from what i have read it must be normal no banging no hesitation, Just sqwat on the first time being moved on any given day. Other than that it is fine for the rest of the day.

Sounds like the parking brake isn't completely releasing (the LS doesn't have u-joints on its driveshaft, FWIW). I'd check the pistons on the rear calipers, and the parking brake linkages, pronto.

From my experience drivin cars in and out of shops, most rwd's get low when u put them in drive, and raise a little when u go in reverse. Only cars I haven't felt that on, from what I remember, r brand new ones that come in w/ less than 12k on them. Also could possibly mean u need a trans flush if its a hard jerk
