I just Want to know how in da world do you remove the shift knob on a 2004 ls8? thanks a bunch in advance

Just under the actual shifter knob there is a black piece with a chrome strip on it.. move this piece down separating it from the actual knob.
Under this piece is a screw that holds the shifter on, the black piece just goes back up the shifter and clips back on.

i was looking for an aftermarket shift knob for a long time, then i just gave up, cause i couldn't find any. but if youdo let us know.
