Sensor Lowering Question!

Hey.. I've been researching this sensor lowering trick.. and it seems like it would be something I would want to do after work... My questions are...

1. Is there any danger to this.. as in.. if I lower to much.. it will totally kill my bags and I'll have to replace my air suspension components every week?

2. Does the car stay the same at highway speed once the car is sensor lowered or does it lower that much more at highway speed? I live in missourri.. so the only thing I gotta worry about is potholes in my gravel road.

3. Do I need any special advise from anyone while doing this? Is it a DIY job or for someone that has a vast knowlage of lincolns?

4. If it is a DIY.. Can someone explain the " Idiot" proof instructions for me? That way if its idiot proof.. i'll get it.. lol.

btw.. I did a search.. found some instuctions with drawn up pictures.. but it confused me.. so I did search.. I promise.

Lowering the bags will expose existing cracks and will make your bags more susceptible to leaks. The bags get cracks in the folds of the bags over time, once you sensor lower the car you are changing where the normal folds are exposing those existing cracks. So yes, you do run the risk of doing more damage to the bags. The car will still lower at highway speed even after sensor lowering.

If you need help, I might be able to be persuaded to help, you're only a couple hours drive from me.

Hey.. that is pretty idiot proof.. lol. Well I do appreciate that help from you.. someone else in missourri... wow.. thats cool... we need to meet up sometime... like inbetween.. that would be fun! I haven't met any mark drivers that are nice up here.. or that even wanna talk. I think i am going to wait untill i get my new bags.. because my bags up front leak already.. and i'm guessin it would go ahead and blow them if i lowered my car... right?

Just a suggestion: When you go to move the front sensors, and unbolt the
lower bracket from the car, look for a horizontal slot that will line up with one of the holes in the bracket when you get it moved up. Rebolt it to the car using that slot then ust the slot of the ball stud for final adjustment.

I don't know about them "blowing" but it would probably make the leak worse, to the point that the bags might be shot.

okay.. thats what I was thinking.. they would make the leak worse and most likely stop working.. okay.. well as soon as I get my new bags.. then i'll lower it..

Man you're just a youngin'! Figured you'd be older than that. Anyways, Once you sensor lower, you might think about the "Ray Switch". Do a search on the forum for "Ray Switch". It's a custom kit that allows you to bleed all the air out of the air ride system. Sits the car as low as it will go. Pretty sweet looking!

Keep an eye out for a thread by me, should be posting sometime in the next few weeks. I'll be taking orders and I'll have a price on the post.

Youngin...? Nah.. I'm about as old as they come now... lol. Ya.. I dunno how I gave that impression.. but obviously i'm doing something dern right! I sure will.. ive read about that switch.. it sounds interesting.. and it lets me adjust my height as much or as little as I like! I sure appreciate all the help here!

nah, the switch you are talking about is the asham8, the ray switch just lets you slam the car, that's it.

Oh...okay.. for parking purposes? Because obviously you can't drive with the car totally slammed right? Rubbin and horrible for ball joint.. right? I mean thats what i've been taught.. that lowered car.. extremely lowered cars go through ball joints like I go through boxes of trix... lol.

Correct, driving while slammed causes a lot of wear on the front suspension components. Driving it while slammed will wear out everything. Slow cruising might be alright but normal driving is not recommended.

But hey.. that would be sweet.. to be almost on the ground at wal-mart.. and then cruise by at normal level.. or slightly lowered.. it would make people think.. look at that redneck with air bags on his car... lol... and little would they know.. their stock!! Thats really good.. I'll defintly be looking for that switch sometime soon.. and I might even have to take you up on the offer to come help me sensor lower.. maybe I could take a trip up there.. we'll work it out when the time is right!!
