What is the sensor/black box thing on the rear shock? Are they needed? On of mine is broken, and will not mount to the shock. Just wondering if I can remove them, or should I crawl in the trunk and make the stupid thing fit back up there? It's a 94 if that matters.

I seen somewhere, somebody said it was a dampener or something like that. The rear shocks are adjustable, I think was said. Might have been anti-squat thing, I did search.

It is a shock dampner sensor, they ONLY work with the FACTORY shock, if you've replaced your shocks with anything other than those you can toss them

Anti-dive and no, they're not needed but you will still here the clicking sound when turning the key on and or starting, unless you disconnect them. Ford found out it was redundant to have the adjustable shocks on the rear. It was better to allow the anti-lock to do all the work. Thats why it only lasted 1 year. Some 94's also have them but not many.

The front brakes do 70% of the braking, The 1st gen shocks only job is for braking anyway. The anti-lock takes on the job after the tires loose traction. Take out and disconnect. You'll be fine.
