I'm considering getting the Mark VIII repaint.

It's a black/black Mark VIII. I want to change the color a little bit, but a subtle change. I don't want to have to paint the door jams and engine bay.

I'm not very knowledgable regarding auto-body work, but if the clear is sanded off, can't I have the current black used as a base coat and blend made using that? Like a coat of black, a layer of metallic (or candy midnight blue or something), and then clear coats?

Where can I find the color options online. I haven't been able to find House of Kolor or any selections anywhere online..

what i wanted to do.. was go jet black with a deep red candy.. so it looks black until under direct sunlight then that blood red pops out.. plus you dont really have to do the jams with that cause you wouldn't even notice most of the time.. but ill keep mine tri stage pearl.. too much work to change colors

That's what I don't fully understand, the way the automotive paints interact.

So I could have any pearl or candy color sprayed, then cleared, and it would look good?

And is there an internet resource to help figure out what to do?

House of Kolor is here:

You have Kandies, Flakes, Pearls, all kinds of kameleons and for those with deep pockets glow paints (actual glow in the dark paint for your car). Best thing to do is go to a bodyshop paint supplier and talk with the reps. They can walk you through what can and cant be done, outcomes and often paint samples. You cant show this stuff online very well.
