seatbelt cleaning

My cars seatbelts are realy dirty from everyday use and I've tried to use foam cleaner but that didnt help. Anyone Know of something good that works.

Have you tried spray and wash? I used it on my dirty headliner and it looks good as new.

Its very difficult to clean seatbelts, due to their tight weave design. The best thing is a hard bristled nylon brush, some citrus based cleaner, and a lot of spare time

If you can get a pressure wash pull the out of the car and close the door on them and spray the hell out of them.

I agree with both of these guys on this one. Mostly, anyways.

You are going to want to be careful on how harshly you scrub/treat the seatbelt. YOu don't want to weaken it in any way. I would try pulling the seatbelt all the way out, treating with something like Folex (maybe even dilute it 1:1 with distilled water), agitate lightly with a toothbrush, and then have at it with the pressure washer.

Folex can be found at walmart, by the brooms/mops. It comes in a 1L white spray bottle with purple writing. This is what I'm using right now for interior carpets.

You could also use a citrus degreaser. You can buy the Zep one at home depot.

I use simple green in my bissel steam cleaner. But how i did it in the old days was pull the belt out, put something in it so it won't retract. set the belt in a bucket with simple green and start scrubing it. then use a towel to dry it off starting from the top and working it down. Has always worked for me. simple green works real well for getting the body oil and dirt out of it.

I'd use Zep high traffic carpet cleaner... it's better than Folex IMO.

I've done a lot of side by side... putting together a big compare right now.

I make a custom mix of a couple chemicals to clean carpets. Funny you mention zep though, I remember years ago when I was searching for a supplier, they said if you want good sporting events tickets, go with zep.

The products I've recommended are readily available at a local store. Of course there are going to be better options, but for the average car owner, a consumer product would be sufficient.

I myself am going with Majestic Solutions Extraction Plus. Also getting their Enzyme cleaner.

If you haven't checked out majestic solutions, I suggest you do. They have some great products. Not all of them are home runs, but the aforementioned carpet products are very superior.
