I just got my LS about 2 weeks ago. I am sick of the seat belt alarm. I have heard there is a sequence to turn it off in the owners manual, however I do not have a manual. Can anyone help me out please?

:slam

Hate to play the role of "seat belt police" but you should just put the seat belt on. Trust me, it may save your life someday. Ok, I'm off the soap box now. I think there is a way to turn it off, I'm just not sure exactly.

i tried the whole sequence deal on my 2001..never got it to work. so i just disconnected it. just feel down the right of the seat and you should see a connection. very simple

Thanks for the help. I wear the seat belt but when I am in a drive up line and I need to reach out and then thing goes off it gets pretty annoying.

Remember - if you are not wearing your seatbelt - then all the fancy airbags in the LS are also disabled....

WOW - Do people really get hurt worse w/o a seatbelt with an airbag deploying enough to have it turn off??

I wear mine even going down the road a block or two, but MAN totally off on the bags???

Yes - same with the sensor in the seat - if the LS cannot determine that you are in the proper position - it will not deploy the airbag. The seatbelt is part of 'keeping you in the proper position'.

That is 100% correct! DO NOT SCREW AROUND WITH THE RESTRAINT SYSTEM!!! You would hate to be responsible for injurying someone else riding in or driving your car. Let alone yourself....

That is ridiculous, air bags were invented for unrestrained passengers.

Speaking of ridiculous...that statement wins the prize. There isn't a restraint system in the world that doesn't give you a complete warning about it's dangers if you DON'T have the seat belts on. Quite honestly, the air bags could kill you if you didn't have your seat belts on.

I would like to see something in writing Dutch supporting that statement.

Seat Belt Deactivation/activation Programming Procedure

BeltMinder feature One time disable

Any time the safety belt is buckled and then unbuckled during an
ignition ON cycle, BeltMinder will be disabled for that ignition cycle only.

Deactivating/activating the BeltMinder feature

Read steps 1 - 9 thoroughly before proceeding with the

The BeltMinder feature can be deactivated/activated by performing the
following procedure:

Before following the procedure, make sure that:

² The parking brake is set.
² The gearshift is in P (Park) (automatic transmission) or the neutral
position (manual transmission).
² The ignition switch is in the OFF position.
² All vehicle doors are closed.
² The driver’s safety belt is unbuckled.
² The parklamps are in OFF position.

To reduce the risk of injury, do not deactivate/activate the Belt

1. Turn the ignition switch to the RUN (or ON) position. (DO NOT
START THE ENGINE.)
2. Wait until the safety belt warning light turns off. (Approximately 1–2
minutes.)
² Steps 3–5 must be completed within 60 seconds or the procedure will
have to be repeated.
3. Buckle then unbuckle the safety belt three times, ending with the
safety belt unbuckled. This can be done before or during BeltMinder
warning activation.
4. Turn on the parklamps, turn off the parklamps.
5. Buckle then unbuckle the safety belt three times, ending with the
safety belt unbuckled.
² After step 5 the safety belt warning light will be turned on for three
seconds.
6. Within seven seconds of the safety belt warning light turning off,
buckle then unbuckle the safety belt.
² This will disable BeltMinder if it is currently enabled, or enable
BeltMinder if it is currently disabled.
7. Confirmation of disabling BeltMinder is provided by the safety belt
warning light flashing four times per second for three seconds.
8. Confirmation of enabling BeltMinder is provided by:
² The safety belt warning light flashing four times per second for three
seconds.
² Followed by three seconds with the safety belt warning light off.
² Once again, the safety belt warning light will flash four times per
second for three seconds.
9. After receiving confirmation, the deactivation/activation procedure is
