Good afternoon,

My first post on the forum.

I recently purchased an SCT Tuner for my 2006 Lincoln LS. Two brief comments/questions:

1) After installing my battery died, and I had to jump the car. Anyone else experience this?

2) The engine fan (I think it's the engine fan) is running very high and loud, at all times. Is this something customizable, or do I have to live with this? It's quite loud, almost louder than my Magnaflows haha.

Otherwise, brilliant car, love it. Been a long time lurker, but never signed up...never had any problems :-p
 
I have the same fan issue.

Most cases its air in the cooling system. Do you see any leaks by the driver side wheelwell? Im about to replace my thermostat and flush the cooling system.
 
The fan issue only started when I installed the Tuner, so I am quite certain it has to do with the tuner programming, making my fan work harder.

*Also I should mention I flushed my coolant about two months ago. The fan started going on high all the time, directly after the Tune.

I think with the tune they sometimes up the fan to 100% to maintain the car cooler.

Hook it back up and see if you can play with the fan setting.
 
I forgot to add.. The reason your battery died was because the fan was running the whole time you were uploading the tune.. You have to pull the fuse to prevent it..

Bad or dying battery. A good battery will have more than plenty of juice to run a radiator fan for the duration of the tune upload. But I thought the LS had a hydraulic fan instead of an electric one...? Or did some of the years have electric radiator fans?

Which brings us to your second issue...

If you do have an electric fan and your battery crapped out right after you uploaded a tune, you may want to return the car to stock, check the fan operation (as posted before) and then once you have a good battery in there, try to reflash the car with your tuner.

I've heard of some mighty strange stuff that happens to an ECU when you flash it with low battery voltage. Maybe the tune just didn't take correctly.

You don't gotta lie to us. Why would't you sign up until you have a problem?

Either way. Get a new battery, check fan with stock tune, then reflash with your new tune.

Second Gen had electric fans.. And Missing Linc' had his battery die also.. So he pulled the fan fuse when uploading his tunes..
 
Now I know about Gen 2's having 'lectric fans. Thank you.

As far as a good battery dying when uploading a tune... I just haven't seen it happen. Two people (hell, even 100 people) suffering from a dead battery while uploading a tune sounds more like a fluke when you consider how many people upload SCT tunes to their cars.

But if pulling the fuse works... why not.
 
I have never had to pull the fan fuse to use my SCT, and the car starts every time. Otherwise suggests that the battery is getting tired.
 
When i first got my tuner in the summer i was able to upload/change tunes 3 times(i was messing with it). On the fourth it died on me.

Couple of weeks ago i changed my tune and my battery died on the first time. Maybe its the cold?

It is a direct result of the tune. The fan is running longer/faster to keep the engine cooler thereby developing more horsepower. That happened to my old 2000 and I really hated it. That is why if I want more HP I'll just add an exhaust. IMHO, The SCT tuner is a lot of money for little gains. It does add adjustability, if you have the expertise.
 
What does the rest mean?!?!?!? Cold CRANKING Amps.. Which means you have less amps, when cold, while cranking.. Which also affects reserve time.. :p

I got dis sh!t.. :lol:
 
Hi everyone,

Thanks for all your input. No but seriously, have been lurking for a year, just didn't sign up because this board takes up enough of my time.

Ran the Tune again, put the default fan on. Fan is back to normal, and car started up normally this time.

I understand fan can increase HP, but it's too loud and annoying.

I have noticed performance improvement though, and throttle response, and power on the highway.
 
Hey, when you change your battery (to a new one), does it delete your tunes? Do you have to reinstall or no?
