SCT Tune for better throttle response

I'm experiencing a lag in throttle response at first tip in right off of idle... I'm sure it's a by-product of the drive-by-wire. It's annoying compared to my other car's more traditional cable actuated system. Do all of the 2nd gens have this characteristic or is this atypical to my car.

My question is... will an SCT tune be able to give me a more crisp throttle response. Other than the lag off of idle, the car runs and shifts like a champ.

All of us Gen II cars suffer with that.

Can't say that a tune made that much of a noticeable difference. Guess I'm just too used to cars that had actual throttle cables.

made some throttle response on mine...big difference from stock i think...shifts a lot harder too!

upgrade is an opinion! Power and torque.... The fastest NA 2nd gen I can think of made a 14.2 pass as its best. The fastest NA 1st gen with that same mods (CAI, Exhaust, Tune), 14.3. How much are we giving up? It seems to me everyone who thinks the 2nd Gens have so much more power have never played with 1st gen. They respond UNBELIEVABLY well to very minor modification. What other upgrades? Electronic ebrake that breaks? VCG's that actually were bad enough to get a recall from ford? Drive by wire? Puddle Lights? I wanted a second gen when I went looking for my LS. Now I am very glad I ended up with a First Gen

No recall for VCG on any year just TSB and extend warranty on 2nd gen. Its the 1st gen that has the the most trouble with VCG leaking oil and COP failure. I will still stick with my 2nd gen.

maybe on here, but if Ford made note of the 2nd gen and not the first gen you'd have to think that overall the 2nd gen had more issues

Amen to that brother!

Hell even Quik got goods on his first Gen LS. I still say the eletronic e-brake is retarded....

with 410 gears the first gen ran a 14.3

Ford probably just did give a rats ass about the 3 year older cars...

oh and the recall only for the 03!

yes the recall that was posted up on here says that the valve covers are only covering the 2003 LS... the coils are covered for different years... if you got the work done on a different year then a 03 your mechanic just didn't know how to read!

Read his sig.... I have seen him post saying he went from a 14.3xx to a 14.289 with the 4.10 oh and read his sig!

here it is... this this the sig of the guy with the 4:10's
02LSE
14.368@97.24 w/stock 3:31 gears
14.284@97.56 w/4:10s
2.090 best 60'
98.66 best mph
LSK Aluminum Intake w/K&N
Magna-Flow cat-back
Xcal2 SCT tuned by KBX Performance (ILLS)
8.8 FRPP 4.10s w/Traction Loc.

You said "the recall". The recall involves more than one piece of equipment, so hence, it's not just the '03s.

OK i apologize... i should have quoted this post!

BS.. why recall a minor engine problem on a 3 year old car... coils and plugs are normal maintenance

Thats what Sully said I ran 14.3 on stock gears. Thats less than .1 from best Gen2 times.

I hate TBW. I deal with it on my 06 F150, buts its annoying. The LSes responsiveness to me would be seriously sacrificed with it. With the jumpiness of the 4.10s I could see the TDW lazyness being enhanced...alot.

I'll take the few less hp to have the good old throttle cable.

are you arguing with me or for me? you proved my point that he ran a 14.3 on stock gears

Jason, what was robs best before N2O? I could have sworn it was a 14.2

Why argue the difference between modded 1st gen vs. 2nd gen? Once you put a bunch of mods into the car the difference between gen1 and gen2 becomes less of an issue and the mods become more important. I've seen a freightliner hit over 300mph and I'd take my gen1 over that anyday.

When talking about times lets see the same driver do a multiple 1/4 mile runs in both a stock gen1 and gen2 at the same track on the same day. Then we will have some real information to discuss. Otherwise you might as well compare the 1/4 time when the car is dropped out of a plane as well.
